NSTA is in search of opinionated technophiles with good writing skills to join our new Technology Review Panel. In most cases, reviewers will be allowed to keep the materials that they review, but some vendors may ask that they be returned (vendors will be responsible for all shipping costs). Reviews will be published in our K–12 journals as part of NSTA Recommends. Interested candidates should e-mail the Technology Review Coordinator at techrecommends@nsta.org. Tutor.com still has openings for Online Tutors in the subject areas of Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Calculus and Algebra 2. These are part-time positions and great for supplemental income while working full time or when looking for full time work. It is also a great opportunity for those who would like to give back and make a positive impact in the lives of students but have very busy schedules and need the flexibility to do so. Tutor.com was created in 1998, is based in NY but works with over 1,800 libraries and schools throughout the country as well as military families all over the world. We have over 2,000 tutors who are also located all over the country in various disciplines and fields.
Tutoring with our service actually takes place online so tutors can tutor from the comfort of their home or dorm. Our service is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week which means we provide tutors with very flexible scheduling. Tutors choose their hours from week to week. Our service is on demand so it helps tutors to keep their basic skills sharp. You also have an opportunity to make a difference and help students all over the country who might not normally be able to afford a tutor on their own. We have a rolling admission so as soon as we have enough tutors in specific subject areas, then the remaining applicants are placed on a waiting list. For more information and access to our online application, please visit www.tutor.com/apply
Reviewers Needed
Educational Software Company called Boardworks is in the process of looking for reviewers. I noticed that you had a job listings section on the PSTA website and I was wondering if you would be interested in listing the following job opportunity: Boardworks is an independent educational publishing company producing inspiring, interactive software for teachers and students. We are currently looking for practicing or experienced high school science teachers to work alongside us on the development of online science assessment materials for students. We are looking for science teachers (biology, chemistry or physics) to act as reviewers/proof-readers, to carry out in-depth reviews of our online assessment material as it is developed - assessing both the content and the suitability for teaching in Pennsylvania. For more information please e-mail Catherine Marks at editors@boardworkseducation.com, as soon as possible.
