While science and STEM educators have often been early adopters of technology within the classroom and use of online resources, the COVID-19 pandemic caught all educators short as they transitioned to online instruction. The transition to online instruction requires educators to employ new digital tools and strategies. Regardless of being identified as a digital native or digital immigrant, there is an explicit need to focus on becoming a digital educator.  Becoming a digital science/STEM educator also requires that strategies for meeting sensemaking, student investigations, and incorporating student discourse is considered.

This session will provide an introduction to different digital tools and strategies that can be used for student engagement in online settings.  As examples are discussed, this will also give the participant a chance to become familiar with the digital tools and strategies. Participants will walk away with an additional list of online resources that can be used in synchronous or asynchronous lessons.
